OPPA – The Date with Finger Licking Good is a romantic dating restaurant in Shah Alam, Selangor, led by architect IDr Jazzbi Chew, and shortlisted for an International Design Award in the Commercial – Hospitality – Restaurant category.
The brief was built around a single idea: a romantic dating restaurant that still feels affordable and approachable. The interior runs on a Pinky and Woody palette, lifted by rose gold metal accents that catch the light without tipping into flashy, paired with a grounded mix of concrete cement and timber that keeps the space feeling like an accessible high-end spot for a date night rather than an exclusive one. Brick wallpaper adds warmth and cosiness throughout, layered with love-related phrases and quotes worked into the decor, plush seating for comfort, and a distinctive railing design that doubles as a memorable visual feature. Together, these choices give OPPA an urban, contemporary look that reads as both trendy and timeless.
The concept resonated beyond its Shah Alam clientele: OPPA’s shortlisting for an International Design Award reflects how the thematic, romantic dining concept translated into a genuinely well-executed built space, not just a strong mood board.
